Grey Farmhouse Bedroom Set
A huge number of individuals have spent the past year updating their homes and carrying out DIY jobs that were previously too time-consuming to commit to. Money.co.uk reported that almost two-thirds of homeowners invested in renovating their properties last year, and their consumer spending experts have recently taken to Pinterest to analyse the most popular interior design styles informing the way we redecorate.
The Designer Desire report has revealed what we're all saving to our mood boards, and has thrown up some interesting stats on the most desired bedroom styles.
Topping the list with over 350,000 dedicated pins is 'Modern Farmhouse.' Sam Hood, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Amara says: "this look epitomises simple living and a love of the great outdoors. On its surface, it's all roaring fireplaces, mismatched hand-me-down furniture and a love of chintz. Dig a little deeper and you'll find that this décor is so much more. An eclectic mix of well-used and well-loved pieces, familiar textures and plenty of functional-not-fussy style."
The top 10 most desired bedroom styles according to Pinterest are:
- Modern Farmhouse - 353,743 pins
- Rustic - 297,672 pins
- Contemporary - 255,082 pins
- Traditional - 208,931 pins
- Abstract - 199,060 pins
- Modern - 187,212 pins
- Minimalist - 176,772 pins
- Shabby chic - 169,476 pins
- Cottage - 155,531 pins
- Scandinavian - 153,792 pins
Remaining within the countryside theme, 'Rustic' and 'Cottage' bedrooms both made it into the top 10 most popular bedroom styles with 297,672 and 155,531 pins respectively.
Whilst rustic design schemes rely somewhat on raw finishes, such as exposed brick or concrete, rough timber, or brushed metals, a cottage look is altogether more cosy and comfortable. Cottage bedrooms celebrate country-inspired print and pattern, warm natural materials, such as wool carpets, knitted throws and upholstered chairs, and an array of charming treasures and trinkets.
There was a close call between contemporary and traditional bedroom styles, with a contemporary design scheme inching ahead with by almost 50,000 pins.
Contemporary styles are naturally trend-led, which means an emphasis on popular colour ways like grey, pink, and white, and modern materials such as a luxurious velvet and metallic finishes. Traditional design schemes can be a bit more forgiving in their breadth of possibilities, from classical regency styles to elegant French influences, encompassing a myriad of colour combinations and opening up shopping options to include antiques and inherited furniture.
